DINING SERVICES

Welcome to the University of Maryland! As you navigate this incredible campus in the coming days and year, rest assured that one thing you do not need to worry about is eating.

We are proud to offer service in two residential dining halls, in two full-service restaurants, in a variety of cafes and quick food locations, and in convenience shops located across campus. Your dining experiences can range from a basic grab-and-go purchase to an elegant meal with friends - you decide and you enjoy!

  • When you move into traditional housing on campus (a room in a residence hall with no private kitchen) you must participate in a Resident Dining Plan.
  • If you do not live in a traditional campus residence, the Apartment Plan is an easy and convenient way to turn your UM ID into on-campus dining.
  • Terrapin Express is an additional, optional debit account you can attach to your UM ID. Terrapin Express is accepted everywhere we serve food and by over a dozen other campus businesses and departments.
  • Note that all of our dining locations accept cash and credit cards. With or without a dining plan, we are happy to serve you!

Services for Veterans

The Department of Dining Services is committed to assisting all students, and to assisting veterans in particular, in every way possible. Any undergraduate student called to service will not face any penalties or fees for release from their agreement: the dining contract will be prorated and the unused portion returned. Additionally, veterans can be sure of individual attention from our staff for special needs or issues they may face before, during or after their terms of service.

Contact

Any veteran or their family members, friends, or interested individuals who have questions, concerns or issues related to dining on campus should contact Bart Hipple, Assistant Director for Communication, Department of Dining Services, by email at bhipple@umd.edu or by phone (301) 314-9413 or fax (301) 314-9764.
